Professional Verification & Registration Policy
How X2 verifies professional music and media roles, identifiers, registrations and related authority.
1. Purpose
Professional verification connects identities, roles and rights-sensitive actions to verifiable industry infrastructure. It is intended to make professional registration and rights information more transparent, not to create unnecessary barriers.
2. Three Separate Layers
Identity Verified means the person or company identity has been verified. Professional Role Verified means a claimed professional role has been verified. Rights Verified means rights in a specific master, composition or catalog have been sufficiently established for the relevant action.
Verification of one layer does not automatically verify the others.
3. Role-Based Verification
One user may hold multiple professional roles. Each role may be verified separately because the evidence appropriate for a songwriter, performer, publisher, label, developer or rightsholder may differ.
4. Songwriters, Composers and Lyricists
IPI and appropriate PRO or CMO affiliation may support verification where available and relevant.
5. Publishers and Administrators
Publisher verification may use publisher IPI, society affiliation, business verification and evidence of administration authority.
6. Performers
IPN or performer-rights CMO information may support performer verification where available.
7. Labels and Master Rightsholders
There is no single universal global label identifier. Verification may use business registration, representative authority, catalog or master evidence, professional domain information, release history, ISRC registrant information, DDEX identifiers where applicable and other reliable evidence.
8. Content Identifiers Are Different
ISRC identifies a recording and does not by itself prove performer identity, composition ownership or master ownership. DPID identifies a DDEX messaging party where applicable and is not a universal professional identity number.
9. Sensitive Actions
Additional verification may be required before publishing registration, composition claiming, performer claims, Social or UGC claiming, master-ownership changes, rights administration, royalty-beneficiary assignment, sensitive payouts, Label contracting or professional catalog synchronization.
10. Registration Pending
Where a legitimate professional identifier is required but the user is still obtaining it, X2 may recognize REGISTRATION REQUIRED or REGISTRATION PENDING status and may accept evidence that formal registration has been requested.
11. Manual Professional Verification
For legitimate cases where standard identifiers are unavailable or not yet issued, X2 may conduct manual review using identity or business documents, contracts, rights evidence, professional profiles, catalog history, society correspondence or similar material.
12. Temporary Authorization
Manual or temporary professional verification may be time-limited and restricted to a role, service, release or operation. It does not create an IPI, IPN or other external identifier and does not require a CMO, DSP or institution to recognize X2's internal decision.
13. Status Vocabulary
X2 may use UNVERIFIED, PENDING, VERIFIED, MANUALLY VERIFIED, REGISTRATION PENDING, REVIEW REQUIRED, DISPUTED, RESTRICTED, REJECTED and EXPIRED statuses.
14. Registration Center
X2 may provide guidance explaining which professional identifiers are relevant, why they matter and where official registration can be completed. X2 may guide, verify, connect and synchronize but does not issue IPI or IPN numbers itself.
15. History and Evidence
Verification history should preserve what was verified, by whom, using which evidence, for what role, territory or service, and when the decision was made or expired.
16. Beneficiary Verification Is Separate
Account owner, rightsholder, royalty beneficiary and bank beneficiary may differ. Payment-beneficiary verification is handled separately from professional-role verification.
17. Rights Transfers
A rights transfer should be treated as an explicit event with evidence, verification, effective date and historical record rather than silently overwriting prior ownership.
18. False Identifiers
Knowingly false professional identifiers, forged registrations or false institutional claims may be treated as fraud.
